Day 42-44 - Friday-Sunday Jan 8-10

Friday, January 8 "THE RUG ROOM"
Feedings just keep on increasing. Wyatt will be at his max feed of 31 mls in no time. He is also allowed to breastfeed 3 times a day. Today Huma (mom Sue Van Tine) is popping in on her way to visit brother Mike, Gran and Joe. While hanging out with Wyatt and I while he nursed we hear, "Sauer is moving to Nursery G." I exclaimed, "What was that I hear we are moving to G?" The nurses say, "Yup your moving to G."

G is the nursery you can't wait to get to. End of the line. THE RUG ROOM! Last nursery before you go to the zoom aka HOME. I can't believe my ears. Sue asked Wyatt's nurse if they were moving him because he is doing great or because they are running out of room. The nurse said, "You only go to G if you are healthy and doing great!" This is awesome. This means home stretch. Hopefully only a few more weeks. He needs to gain wait and regulate his own body temperature. We are cruising.

Saturday, January 9
What a different environment the rug room is. Very quiet. Stayed late the night before (11pm). We arrive with sister Kim Van Tine in tow. New changes this morning Wyatt is up to 4 bf's and is on air mode inside his isolette. This means they are weaning him to start regulating his own temp by keeping him dressed in a onesie and a sleeper with a hat on in room air temp. Charlene is his nurse today....she is also the gifted lactation consultant. Lucky us.

Sunday, January 10
Uggghhhh.....we find out Wyatt lost weight and weighed in Saturday night at 20 grams short. This means no more back to back bf's and he is to get a fortifier in his feedings. This gives him more calories to beef up and hopefully not lose anymore weight while he practices and learns to breastfeed. Another great day....he is eating well and sleeping soundly. Craig got to bottle feed him for the first time, so cute!

I know the weight loss is a short-term bummer, but he looks amazing. Those round little cheeks and big eyes. It amazes me to go back to his first pictures back in November. He's a beautiful little baby who sounds like he can't wait to come home with mommy, daddy and darth!
