Today's mantra, "I will relax while breastfeeding." I am determined to relax and make it work. I know it will, it just takes a little time.
Don't know any of the nurses who Wyatt had today. They were fine though. Mary was stuck in isolation rooms and I joked she is there because she was bad. She replied, "I wasn't bad....filling the spot because of an incompetent nurse, who unfortunate for you has Wyatt....no no don't worry he's fine." Mary just being Mary...smart ass. :)
Morning check in with nurse Sue, more like afternoon check in. Wyatt is getting his PICC line out today!!! Yahoo! Also, he has orders to breastfeed twice a day now and his feedings are increased every shift (3xday)instead of every 12 hours. This boy will be gaining tons of weight in no time, I hope. Plus they will start looking into nippling him instead of the feeding tube.
My schedule now will be 1pm and 7:30pm nursing times. Diving into getting Wyatt ready to feed at 1 I changed his diaper first. WOW a ton of poo.....and he had an explosive one while I was changing him. It made me so proud and happy to be changing a diaper. Who would have thought. His 1pm feed went well....I got him to latch after multiple times of waking him up...he was too warm. Not as relaxed as I wanted to be. I love kangarooing him afterwards. At the 7:30 feed I did better. Probably because his PICC line was out of his arm, awesome. Got him to latch quicker and better. Wyatt is doing great with nursing. NO DESATS and his numbers are great. So that means he is coordinating his functions well. The BIG milestone now is to maintain body temperature so that he can go into an open crib. Another step closer to "Going to the ZOO!" Which means going home.
